Biography

Ginevra Le Moli is Assistant Professor of International Law at the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies, Leiden University. She is also the Chair of the Interest Group on International Criminal Justice of the European Society of International Law. Since September 2020, she is conducting a full-time research project at the Universities of Geneva and Cambridge on illicit traffic of natural resources funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). As C-EENRG Fellow, Ginevra is also the Managing Editor of the C-EENRG Research Series.

Ginevra holds an LLM. and a Ph.D. in International Law (summa cum laude) from the Graduate Institute, Geneva, an LL.B. and a Masters in Law (cum laude) from the University of Roma Tre, a Diploma in International Law from the London School of Economics, and an Advanced Certificate on pandemic prevention from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Previously, she was a Legal Consultant with the UN OHCHR (2015-2018) and between 2016 and 2018, she took part in UN investigation teams for Syria and Yemen, with several field missions in Damascus, Idlib, Aleppo, Homs (Syria) and Sanaʽa and Taiz (Yemen).

Ginevra’s publications focus generally on the protection of vulnerable persons in international law, particularly from the perspective of international criminal law, international environmental law and human rights. Her book Human Dignity in International Law is forthcoming with Cambridge University Press in 2021. She is also the guest editor of a special issue of the Journal of International Criminal Justice on “Torture by Non-State Actors” and the co-editor, with G.-L. Burci and J. E. Viñuales, of the first Commentary of the WHO International Health Regulations, forthcoming with Oxford University Press. Ginevra’s work has appeared in some of the main generalist and specialized journals, including the American Journal of International Law, International & Comparative Law Quarterly and the Chinese Journal of International Law.
