LCIL and C-EENERG will host a discussion with Maitre Erick Kassongo, Director of the Congolese Centre for Sustainable Development Law at the Faculty of Law on 12 May. Maitre Kassongo was instrumental in the development of the DRC's Nationally Determined Contribution to the Paris Agreement and the country's legal preparedness for REDD+. He will discuss the process of these developments as well as his work on legal incentives and obstacles for low-carbon investments in sustainable landscapes.
Maitre Kassongo is also known for his work defending the land and resources rights of small communities under forest and land seizure. This promises to be an enlightening discussion on developments in the field of sustainable landscapes and sustainable development law.
This event is jointly hosted by the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law and the Centre for Environment Energy and Natural Resource Governance.
