C-EENRG has been granted an award under the Cambridge-Paris Sciences et Lettres scheme in order to strengthen research collaboration with the College de France, in Paris.
This project will analyse key juridical concepts, such as subject, property/ownership, responsibility/liability/accountability, causation, injury, and examine their resilience and adaptability in the face of the shifting relationship between man and the environment represented by the anthropocence and the age of environmental concern. The pilot project, proposed here, will last nine months in the form of a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and the Collège de France, in which the network for the wider project will be built, and the initial stages of exploring these central juridical terms will be carried out.
The project leaders in Cambridge are Professor Jorge E. Viñuales, Harold Samuel Professor of Law and Environmental Policy, Department of Land Economy, and Director of the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG), together with Dr. Emma Lees, University Lecturer in Environmental Law and Deputy-Director of C-EENRG. The project leader in Paris will be Professor Alain Supiot, holder of the chair Etat social et mondialisation: analyse juridique des solidarités, Collège de France, together with Dr Luca d’Ambrosio, Post-doctoral fellow (Collège de France). Both institutions will include a wider network, involving researchers from other entities in Cambridge (LCIL, POLIS, History, CSaP) and in France (Institut d’études avancées de Nantes).
