C-EENRG and the Cambridge University Brazilian Society (CUBS) organised a special BRIDGE event at the Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge, to host Benny Dembitzer, Managing Director of Grassroots Africa and member of the team awarded the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of IPPNW (International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear Weapons). Benny gave the seminar ‘Food, Water, and Energy in the Context of Climate Change: Major World Challenges of the XXI century’.
The talk was introduced by the speeches of researchers from the BRIDGE Project partners of UNISUL, Brazil, as below:
- Issa Ibrahim Berchin and Prof. José Baltazar Guerra (PI, Brazil), on ‘Higher Education Institutions as catalysts of innovations for sustainable development: The Role of Education for Sustainable Development in Universities’.
- João Marcelo Pereira (Co-I, Brazil) and Prof. José Baltazar Guerra (PI, Brazil), on ‘The Water, Energy and Food Nexus approach and Brazilian public policies in the context of Sustainable Development Goals’.
- Celso Lopes de Albuquerque (Co-I, Brazil) and Prof. Rafael Ávila Faraco (Co-I, Brazil), on ‘Mineral Extraction – Environmental Impacts and Solutions: A case study from the South of Brazil’.
The audience was approximately 60 people, mostly researchers and students from Cambridge, interested in the discussion about the governance of natural resources in Brazil. This was an opportunity to divulge the project outcomes and its researchers.
