Biography

Joern Huenteler is an Energy Specialist in the Energy and Extractives Global Practice of the World Bank. He leads the World Bank's energy financing program in Yemen and co-leads its energy financing in Rwanda and Madagascar. His academic research focuses on the intersection of science, technology and innovation (STI) policy, energy and development, seeking to inform the design and evaluation of Government policy, programs and investments. He previously was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Science, Technology and Public Policy program (Energy Technology Innovation Policy group) at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard. He holds a PhD from the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics at ETH Zurich (Switzerland), a joint graduate degree in mechanical engineering and economics from RWTH Aachen University (Germany), and a M.Sc. in power engineering and engineering thermophysics from Tsinghua University (China).
