On 17-21 May 2021, six months before the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Climate Exp0 conference will showcase the latest thinking and most relevant international research in the run-up to COP26. Online, free, and open to all, it is an opportunity to connect policymakers, academics and students across the world, and harness the power of virtual collaboration to help deliver a zero-carbon, resilient world.
Climate Exp0 is the first conference from the COP26 Universities Network and the Italian University Network for Sustainable Development (RUS), working together to raise ambition for tangible outcomes from the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). Supported by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Cambridge University Press, and the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), Climate Exp0 is part of the official All4Climate Pre-COP programme and will showcase the latest thinking and most relevant international research relevant to decisions being made at COP26 in November around five key themes:
- Green Recovery (17 May)
- Nature-based Solutions (18 May)
- Mitigation Solutions (19 May)
- Adaptation and Resilience (20 May)
- Finance and Regulation (21 May)
Climate Exp0 is free to attend and open to all. You can register and participate in any of the conference sessions.
C-EENRG fellows and researchers substantially contribute to the conference programme across three days.
On Monday, 17 May (Green Recovery day):
- Dr Sergey Kolesnikov will kick off C-EENRG contributions in a rapid presentation session on Solution stars - Mitigation solutions for green recovery at 12 pm (UK time)
- Dr Cristina Peñasco is a speaker in Economy-wide impacts of green recovery session at 1.45 pm
- Hector Pollitt presents in a session Delivering green recovery and just transition in the context of rapid technological change at 3 pm.
On Wednesday, 19 May (Mitigation Solutions day):
- Thea Jung presents in a session New evidence on mitigation solutions at 11.30 am.
- Professor Laura Diaz Anadon will moderate a concluding discussion of the day on Policies for delivering CoP26 mitigation objectives at 4.30 pm.
On Friday, 21 May (Finance and Regulation day):
- Professor Marie-Claire Cordonier Segger is the panelist in a session on Climate law and governance at 10.45 am.
- Dr Benedict Probst will present in a session Green bonds & novel financial instruments at 1 pm.
