Biography
Dr Emma Lees is a University Lecturer in Environmental Law at the University of Cambridge in the Department of Land Economy. She completed her PhD in Land Economy, under the supervision of Professor Martin Dixon, in 2014. This PhD is shortly to be published as book: Environmental Offences: Remedying Interpretive Uncertainty (Hart Publishing). Her research is primarily concerned with environmental, land and planning law. As far as environmental law is concerned, there are three main areas of research: national law controls on the use of land (contaminated land, waste, and habitats’ protection); the role of the judiciary in environmental law; and comparative and European Union environmental law. Her current focus is on the effect of European Union law (particularly environmental law) on planning law within the Member States. She has supervised dissertations concerned with the enforcement and design of environmental regulations. She teaches land law, landlord and tenant law, and legal reasoning and legal research skills in the Department of Land Economy.
